Everything Has an Assignment

"If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But now God has placed the members each one of them, in the body, just as He desired." 1 Corinthians 12:17-18

Every member of the Body of Christ has a specific role to fulfill and has a special anointing from God to do their work perfectly. When you are in your assigned place you have no rivals. Someone once said, -"Your bathroom is as important as your kitchen."

It is said that necessity is the mother of invention. Wherever there is a need there is someone working to come up with a solution. Everything made was created for a purpose and often to solve a problem.

God gave Abraham and Sarah an assignment. He told them to leave the great city of Ur and live in the desert. Because Abraham yielded to this assignment God greatly blessed him and promised to give him a son by his wife Sarah. This was a remarkable promise because they were old and Sarah’s womb had always been barren.

God has assigned special offices in His Church and has filled each as He wills. Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers are all assigned to their specific place in the body. There are those who possess various spiritual gifts which operate as each are assigned in the body as well.

Sometimes God gives us temporary assignments which may be difficult. Noah was told to build an Ark and preach repentance for 120 years. Many of the Prophets received assignments that would ultimately cause them to be put to death. Without an understanding of what God was doing, young Joseph received the assignment to be betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery and later falsely accused and imprisoned in Egypt for 10 years. To start the Church in Philippi Paul and Silas were arrested, beaten and imprisoned. And Jesus was assigned to empty Himself of divinity, become a man, and suffer and die at the hands of His own creation. Each was given a special anointing to fulfill their assignment.

"Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."(Romans 12)
