We are Healed by Faith - By Our Belief that God is Faithful to His Promises

"And Jesus rose and began to follow him, and so did His disciples. And behold, a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak; for she was saying to herself, "If I only touch His garment, I shall get well." (Attitude of sincere faith). But Jesus turning and seeing her said, "Daughter, take courage; YOUR FAITH has MADE YOU WELL." And at once the woman was made well." [Matthew 9:19-22]

Jesus Healed All Who Asked, Even if They Were Undeserving of Themselves

"And Jesus went away from there, and withdrew into the district of Tyre and Sidon. (Very wicked pagan cities involved in sacrificing their children to Idols) And behold a Canaanite woman came out from that region, and began to cry out, saying, "Have mercy on me O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed." But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came to Him and kept asking Him, saying, "Send her away, for she is shouting out after us." (Notice how even when the Lord did not answer her readily, she persisted in her appeals to Him) But He answered and said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." But she came and began to bow down before Him, (worshipping Him) saying, "Lord help me!" And He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." But she said, "Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their master's table." Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman YOUR FAITH IS GREAT; be it done for you AS YOU WISH." And her daughter was healed at once." (Her PERSISTENCE paid off)

FAITH is Formed in Us Through Hearing the Word of His Promises

"However, they did not all heed the glad tidings; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has BELIEVED our report?" So FAITH comes from HEARING, and hearing by the WORD OF CHRIST." (Romans 10:16-17) Will you simply receive the glad tidings that you were healed by His stripes?

"Now FAITH is the ASSURANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR, the CONVICTION OF THINGS NOT SEEN." (Hebrews 11:1) Faith allows you to believe God regardless of what your eyes see or your body feels.


King Jehoshaphat's Prayer turned FEAR into FAITH through Praise and Thanksgiving, and Remembering the Faithfulness of God.

"Now it came about after this that the sons of Moab and the sons of Ammon, together with some of the Meunites, came to make war against Jehoshaphat. Then some came and reported to Jehoshaphat, saying, "A GREAT MULTITUDE is coming against you from beyond the sea, out of Syria and behold, they are in Hazazontamar."(Have you received a bad report?)

"And Jehoshaphat WAS AFRAID and TURNED HIS ATTENTION TO SEEK THE LORD; and proclaimed a FAST throughout all Judah. So Judah gathered together to SEEK HELP FROM THE LORD; they even came from all the cities of Judah to SEEK THE LORD. Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord before the new court, and he said, -"O Lord, the God of our fathers, art Thou not God in the heavens? And art Thou not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Thy hand so that no one (or disease) can stand against Thee. Didst Thou not, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before Thy people Israel, and give it to the descendants of Abraham, Thy friend forever? And they lived in it, and have built Thee a sanctuary there for Thy name, saying, "Should evil come upon us, the sword, or judgment, OR PESTILENCE, or famine, we will stand before this house and before Thee and cry to Thee in our distress, AND THOU WILL HEAR AND DELIVER US." And now behold, the sons of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom Thou didst not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, behold how they are rewarding us, by coming to drive us out from Thy possession which Thou hast given us as an inheritance. O our God, wilt Thou not judge them? FOR WE ARE POWERLESS BEFORE THIS GREAT MULTITUDE (Problem) who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, BUT OUR EYES ARE ON THEE."

"Then in the midst of the assembly the SPIRIT OF THE LORD came upon JAHAZIEL the son of Zechariah.....and he said, "Listen, all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat; THUS SAYS THE LORD to you, "DO NOT FEAR or be DISMAYED because of this GREAT MULTITUDE, for the BATTLE IS NOT YOURS BUT GOD'S......YOU NEED NOT FIGHT IN THIS BATTLE; station yourselves, STAND AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD ON YOUR BEHALF, O Judah and Jerusalem. DO NOT FEAR or be DISMAYED; tomorrow go out to face them, FOR THE LORD IS WITH YOU."

"And they rose early in the morning and went out to the wilderness of Tekoa; and when they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, O Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, PUT YOUR TRUST IN THE LORD YOUR GOD, and YOU WILL BE ESTABLISHED. PUT YOUR TRUST IN HIS PROPHETS AND SUCCEED." And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those WHO SANG TO THE LORD and those WHO PRAISED HIM in holy attire, as they went out before the army and said, "GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD, FOR HIS LOVINGKINDNESS IS EVERLASTING."

"And WHEN THEY BEGAN SINGING AND PRAISING, the Lord set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were routed." (2 Chronicles 20:1-22)

READ THESE SCRIPTURES DAILY, NOT SILENTLY, BUT PROCLAIM THEM WITH YOUR VOICE.

"Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging WE ARE HEALED." (Isaiah 53:4-5)

"My son, give attention to MY WORDS; (bring to mind Isaiah 53 concerning your healing) Incline your ear to my sayings.(say them out loud, let your ears hear the word of God) Do no let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. For THEY ARE LIFE to those who find them, and HEALTH to all THEIR WHOLE BODY." (Proverbs 4:20-22)

"Ask, and it SHALL BE GIVEN to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened. Or what man is there among you, when his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he shall ask for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him?" (Matthew 7:7-11)

"And when He had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him entreating Him, and saying, "Sir my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering great pain." And He said to him, I will come and heal him." But the centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not qualified (worthy) for You to come under my roof, but just say the WORD, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one "Go!" and he goes, and to another, "Come!" and he comes, and to my slave, "Do This!" and he does it." Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled, and said to those who were following, "Truly I say to you, I have not found such GREAT FAITH with anyone in Israel." And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; let it be done to you AS YOU HAVE BELIEVED." And the servant was healed that very hour." (Matthew 8:5-10, 13)

"And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, and saying, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!" And after He had come into the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus said to them, "DO YOU BELIEVE that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord." Then He touched their eyes, saying, "Be it done to you ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH." And their eyes were opened. And Jesus was going about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and HEALING every kind of disease and every kind of SICKNESS." (Matthew 9:27-30, 35)

"And when He came out, He saw a great multitude, and FELT COMPASSION for them, and HEALED THEIR SICK." (Matthew 14:14)

"And great multitudes came to Him, bringing with them those who were lame, crippled, blind, dumb, and many others, and they laid them down at His feet; and HE HEALED THEM." (Matthew 15:30)

"Because of the LITTLENESS of YOUR FAITH; for truly I say to you, if you have FAITH as a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, "Move from here to there", and it shall move; and NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO YOU. But this kind does not go out except by PRAYER and FASTING." (Matthew 17:20-21)

"And it came about that when Jesus had finished these words, He departed from Galilee, and came into the region of Judea beyond the Jordan; and great multitudes followed Him, and HE HEALED THEM THERE." (Matthew 19:1-2)

"And He HEALED MANY who were ILL with VARIOUS DISEASES, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, BECAUSE THEY KNEW WHO HE WAS." (MARK 1:34)

"And He said to Her, "Daughter, YOUR FAITH has MADE YOU WELL: go in peace, and be HEALED of YOUR AFFLICTION." (Mark 5:34)

"And answering him, Jesus said, "What do you want Me to do for you?" And the blind man said to Him, "Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!" And Jesus said to him, "Go your way; YOUR FAITH has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and began following Him on the road." (Mark 10:51-52)

"And Jesus said to him, "If you can!" All things are possible to him who BELIEVES." Immediately the boy's father cried out and began saying, "I do believe; HELP MY UNBELIEF." (Mark 9:23-24)

And Jesus answered saying to them, "Have FAITH IN GOD. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, "Be taken up and cast into the sea" and DOES NOT DOUBT in his heart, but BELIEVES that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, BELIEVE that you HAVE RECEIVED THEM, and they shall be granted you." (Mark 11:22-24)

"And He descended with them, and stood on a level place; and there was a great multitude of His disciples, and a great throng of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon, who had come to hear Him, and to BE HEALED of their DISEASES; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were being cured. And all the multitude were trying to touch Him, for power was coming from Him and HEALING THEM ALL." (Luke 6:17-19)

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who BELIEVES IN ME, the works that I do shall HE DO ALSO; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to the Father. And whatever you ask in My Name, that WILL I DO, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My Name, I WILL DO IT." (John 14:12-14)

"You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good, and HEALING ALL WHO WERE OPPRESSED BY THE DEVIL; for God was with Him." (Acts 10:38)

"The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly." (John 10:10)

"Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in GOOD HEALTH, just as your soul prospers." (3 John 2)

"But for you who fear My name the sun of righteousness will rise with HEALING IN ITS WINGS; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall." (Malachi 4:2)

"And Jesus was going about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and HEALING EVERY KIND OF DISEASE and every KIND OF SICKNESS among the people. And the news about Him went out into all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ILL, taken with VARIOUS DISEASES and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; AND HE HEALED THEM." (Matthew 4:23-24)

"O Lord my God, I cried to Thee for help, and Thou didst HEAL ME." (Psalm 30:2)

"For you have made the Lord, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, nor will ANY PLAGUE come near your tent." (Psalm 91:9-10)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be HEALING TO YOUR BODY, and refreshment to your bones." (Proverbs 3:5-8)

"And He said, "If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the DISEASES on you which I have put on the Egyptians; FOR I, THE LORD, AM YOUR HEALER." (Exodus 15:26)

"Is anyone among you SUFFERING? Let him PRAY. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises. IS ANYONE AMONG YOU SICK? Let him CALL FOR THE ELDERS of the church, and LET THEM PRAY OVER THEM, ANOINTING him with OIL in the NAME OF THE LORD; and the PRAYER offered IN FAITH will RESTORE THE ONE WHO IS SICK, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him." (James 5:13-15)

"And He Himself bore our sins in HIS BODY on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; FOR BY HIS WOUNDS YOU WERE HEALED." (1 Peter 2:24)

"Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God." (Psalm 42:11)

"Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am pining away; HEAL ME, O Lord, for my bones are dismayed. And my soul is greatly dismayed; But Thou, O Lord - HOW LONG? Return, O Lord, RESCUE MY SOUL; Save me BECAUSE OF THY LOVINGKINDNESS. For there is no mention of Thee in death; In the grave who will give Thee thanks?" (Psalm 6:2-5)

"As for me, I said, "O Lord, be gracious to me; HEAL MY SOUL, for I have sinned against Thee." (Psalm 41:4)

"Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities; WHO HEALS ALL YOUR DISEASES; Who redeems your life from the pit; Who crowns you with LOVINGKINDNESS and COMPASSION; Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle." (Psalm 103:1-5)

"HEAL ME, O Lord, and I WILL BE HEALED; Save me and I will be saved, FOR THOU ART MY PRAISE." (Jeremiah 17:14)

"But seek for His kingdom, and these things shall be added to you. DO NOT BE AFRAID, LITTLE FLOCK, for YOUR FATHER has chosen GLADLY TO GIVE YOU THE KINGDOM.(or whatever you need) Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Luke 12:31-34)

A Personal Note: While I was writing this paper, my youngest son Matthew, who is nine years old came in asking to be anointed. He was coming down with the flu which I had been suffering with for almost two weeks, and was experiencing a terrible headache. After a reminder, I told him I would be with him in a moment.

I approached where he was lying with my wife and oldest son and knelt down before him. Then I explained a certain amount of suffering was necessary to sometimes get our attention, and that we often neglect to thank God each morning when we feel good. I told Matthew that common illnesses come and pass on their own, but that I would still anoint him if he wished.

Although I have been priviledged to be involved in some magnificent and wonderous healings, I honestly did not expect him to be healed of this flu, though I am now ashamed to admit it. Somehow it just didn't seem that important to me, afterall it would eventually pass and he would recover.

To my surprise, he was completely healed! Then I realized that although I was working on this paper concerning healing, it still took a little child to teach me that we must come before our heavenly Father with the faith of a little child. All Matthew knew, and needed to know, was that he was suffering and God could stop it. It was so simple and pure to him.

And I learned an important lesson, even though his healing of a common sickness didn't seem that important to me, it was to his heavenly Father. Thank you Father for this revelation, and thank you Matthew for your faith. What a great and wonderful God we serve!

While on earth, Jesus healed all who asked, and even some who didn't. Jesus will heal ME today because, -"JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAME YESTERDAY AND TODAY, YES AND FOREVER." (Hebrews 13:8)

I AM NOT WORTHY, BUT JESUS IS - I THANK YOU FATHER FOR BUYING ME WITH THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF YOUR SON - SPIRIT OF SICKNESS, YOU HAVE NO LASTING PLACE IN ME, OR PART IN THE BODY OF CHRIST - I REBUKE YOU AND DEMAND YOU LEAVE MY BODY, BY THE HOLY NAME OF MY LORD AND DELIVERER, JESUS, THE CHRIST! PRAISE HIM!

THANK YOU FATHER, AND THANK YOU JESUS - MAY YOU RECEIVE ALL THE GLORY, AND LET MY LIFE GLORIFY YOU BOTH! AMEN
