Question No. 11

Have a Question? Ask Brother Larry

"I believe in Jesus but I don’t believe in a literal Hell. I think you preachers exaggerate the concept of Hell to scare people into listening to you." Duncan

Dear Friend, did you know that Jesus talked more about Hell than any other single subject? I believe He did this because He doesn’t want anyone to end up there. Notice what Jesus will say to the ungodly at judgment,- "Depart from Me, accursed ones, into eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels." (Matthew 25:41) Go back and read Luke 16 where Jesus tells the parable of Lazarus and the rich man. After his death the rich man lifted up his eyes in Hell and found himself in agony and tormented by flames.

Jesus said,- "If you right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose on e of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into Hell." (Matthew 5:29) Don’t allow wishful thinking to deceive you because if the Bible is true then Hell is real.

Let me leave you with a few Bible facts about Hell. 1. Hell is a lake of fire. (Rev.20:15) 2. Hell is a bottomless pit. (Rev.20:1) 3. Hell is a furnace of fire. (Matt.13:41-42) 4. Hell is a devouring fire. (Isaiah 33:14) 5. Hell is a place of torments. (Luke 16:23) 6. Of everlasting punishment. (Matt. 25:46) 7. Where they cry for mercy. (Luke 16:24) 8. Where they weep. (Matt. 13:42) 9. Where they gnash their teeth. (Matt. 8:12) 10. A place of outer darkness. (Matt. 8:12) 11. Where they have no rest. (Rev. 14:11) 12. Where they gnaw their tongues. (Rev. 16:10) 13. A place of forever blackness. (Jude vs13) 14. Where fire is not quenched. (Mark 9:48) 15. Where they are tormented with brimstone. ((Rev. 14:10) 16. Where those whose name is not written in the Lamb’s book of life are thrown. (Rev. 20:15) 17. Where all liars go. (Rev. 20:8) 18. Where all immoral persons go. (Rev.20:8) 19. Where unbelievers go. (Rev.20:8) 20. Where all homosexuals go. (1 Cor.6:9) 21. Where drunkards go. (1 Cor. 6:10) 22. Where swindlers go. (1 Cor. 6:10) 23. Where all the unrighteous go. (1 Cor.6:9) 24. Where those who reject salvation go. (Heb.2) 25. Where God wants no one to go. (2 Peter 3:9)

Sin cannot simply be forgiven, it has to be dealt with. The Bible says that any person who sins must die. (Ezekiel 18:4,20) The Bible says that without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness for sin. (Heb. 9:22) The shedding of animal blood cannot take away sin, only the righteous sacrifice of a holy and righteous Savior can. That has been provided in Christ Jesus. For those who will not receive that sacrifice, the Bible asks,- "How can we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?" (Heb.2:3) In that case, all that remains if a "terrifying expectation of a fiery judgment." (Heb. 10:27) Duncan, sooner or later you will believe in Hell – won’t you make it sooner?
